1INTRODUCTION

I apologise in advance for any chance of offending some people or other professions.

As an old Maori whakatauki or proverb mentions "Te tiro atu to kanohi ki tairawhiti ana tera whiti te ra kite ataata ka hinga ki muri kia koe."

This translates to: "Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you."

3AUSTRALIA DAY

For those who have the day off, I hope the long weekend goes well - even the BBQ, the company and the shared stories.

4CHINESE NEW YEAR

Another yearly cycle starts 29th January 2025 - (Wood) Snake.

Symbolises reflection, growth and personal transformation. Other resonating keywords are calmness, practicality and grounded.

The year of the (Fire) Horse starts on 17th February 2026.

5ENGINEER JOKE

An old-timer shared this in my young days to highlight the path of an Engineer. Howard Goodfellow (r.i.p.) was about 30 years my senior (Earth Snake). He worked in the production & planning environments from the 1950's.

A engineer passes away and arrives at the gates of heaven.

Saint Peter examines his credentials and declares, "Ah, you're an engineer. You have come to the wrong place."

So, the engineer arrives at the gates of Hell and is allowed in.

Soon after, the engineer becomes dissatisfied with the level of comfort in Hell and begins to design and implement improvements.

Over time, they introduce air conditioning, flush toilets and escalators and the engineer becomes quite popular.

One day, God calls Satan one the phone and inquires with a smirk, "So, how are things down there in Hell?"

Satan responds, "Oh, things are going great. We have air conditioning, flush toilets and escalators and there's no telling what this engineer will come up with next."

God retorts, "What, you have an engineer? That's a mistake. He should never have been allowed down there. Send him back up here."

Satan replies, "Absolutely not! I like having an engineer on staff and I'm keeping him."

God says, "Send him back up here or I'll sue."

Satan bursts into laughter and responds, "Yeah right. And where do you think you're going to find a lawyer?"
