1INTRODUCTION

Looking back at the April RADAR, there were many blips on the screen for a lot of people. Hopefully now, you'll be able to kick-back in the armchair and see what flashed across the channels of life.

You may recall it all started with Daylight Saving. It went back by one hour of Sunday the 6th and taking your body a week to adjust. Easter appeared in the second weekend after it. The Pope passed-on immediately after it. The NSW School Holidays went from the 14th to 24th across Easter. Road chaos.

The following long weekend was connected to Anzac Day and it had a sporting football buzz on another channel. In the background, we still have the April "sound" of the Federal Election echoing that will end this coming weekend.

This should recharge you for Mother's Day the week after... Are you still alright?

2ELSOC BBQ

This was in Week 9, Wednesday 16th, just before Easter. Toshiba sponsored their BBQ and gave away many freebies. The food kept sizzling off the plate. The interaction with the sponsors was continuous.

You could see the queue was a 'tight square-wave' when you saw it from the third floor.

I did catch up with some people in the Common Room. Not all the regular staff were around. Week 9 is always a busy time for assignments, lab work and demonstration duties.

Jolanta mentioned Jinhong had back-to-back meetings all day. He did come out briefly to shake hands and then dive back into his office.

3TECHNOLOGY TRANSLATION SQUAD (TTS)

Matthew Priestley, spotted me at the BBQ on his way to MechEng / Ainsworth Bldg with some other staff. He had time for a 5-minute catch-up chat after 2:30 pm.

In the short 5-minute interaction that went for about 40 minutes, I asked how the TTS program stabilised after it started last July.

He mentioned, "the working Electrical Engineers that joined the squad had made big strides."

"The first 5-free consultation days to many companies was a good time for people to adapt to each other's style."

"The latest monthly session was solid. It just ended last week. The coming two long weekends will be just at a good time to recharge."

He made a note to write and share its progress after things are wrapped up soon.

4WOBBLY WALKERS

Both Dean Julien Epps and Head of School, Jinhong Yuan, attended the 70th Reunion lunch for the first ElecEng graduates that finished in 1955. The next post in a day or two will be more specific.

(Tongue-in-cheek) This gives them an alibi for not being at the Wk9 Elsoc BBQ this time. Normally, they are there. I'll share my BBQ photos with them over an email.
